We have two undergraduate student organizations – Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Kansas State University and Invest-a-Cats. Students are also encouraged to apply to be a peer financial counselor through Powercat Financial Counseling.
The primary student group is an outreach of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City. Students have the opportunity to meet leaders in financial planning and travel to regional and national conferences.
See www.fpakc.org for upcoming events in Kansas City. Check back in the fall for student meeting information.
Invest-a-Cats offers students hands-on experience in gathering, investing, and distributing assets for charitable purposes. Students apply classroom knowledge to real world decisions. Working with the KSU Foundation, the group builds a donor base, makes investments and manages a portfolio. Students gain experience managing the endowment’s principal while preserving the ability to make distribution decisions in the form of student scholarships.
