Student Organizations

We have two undergraduate student organizations – Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Kansas State University and Invest-a-Cats. Students are also encouraged to apply to be a peer financial counselor through Powercat Financial.

Financial Planning Association (FPA)

FPA K-State is a student organization that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the financial planning profession. Most of the student organization is made up of students enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning undergraduate program. FPA K-State allows students the opportunity to explore new ways to enrich academic experiences and prepare them for the profession. This organization offers students industry exposure through attending career events, hosting guest speakers who currently work in the profession, and hearing from recent graduates about their path to success. Contact: Roxanne Martens (rmartens@k-stat.edu), faculty advisor, for more information.

Upcoming Events

The FPA typically meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, with exceptions made to accommodate the academic schedule. See www.fpakc.org for upcoming events in Kansas City.

Invest-a-Cats

Invest-a-Cats offers students hands-on experience in gathering, investing, and distributing assets for charitable purposes. Students apply classroom knowledge to real world decisions. Working with the KSU Foundation, the group builds a donor base, makes investments and manages a portfolio. Students gain experience managing the endowment’s principal while preserving the ability to make distribution decisions in the form of student scholarships.
