Research Projects

Faculty in the Institute of Personal Financial Planning seek excellence in personal financial planning scholarship by focusing on discovery, integration, application and dissemination of knowledge related to personal financial planning. Current research topics include examining the factors associated with the choice of seeking help for financial problems from a financial professional or non-professional; assessing the link between personal financial behaviors and employee productivity; developing and testing frameworks for understanding the determinants of financial satisfaction; assessing financial risk tolerance as a component of the financial planning process; and enhancing perceived self-efficacy or one's belief in his or her capabilities to reach financial potential.
