Undergraduate Program
K-State’s on-campus Personal Financial Planning undergraduate degree program — offered through the School of Family Studies and Human Services (FSHS) in the College of Human Ecology — can set you on the path to an exciting career in the financial industry. As a student, you will tackle courses in family relationships and decision making, consumer rights, insurance, investments and more. A combined emphasis on understanding financial products and how they work, as well as the role of family in financial decisions, helps you build a solid foundation that prepares you to thrive in this in-demand profession.
Master's Program
The Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (IDEA) — a cooperation between eight universities, including Kansas State University — developed an entirely Internet-based Personal Financial Planning master’s program that enables you to pursue the degree at your convenience, without interrupting your personal or professional life. Drawing on the expertise of graduate faculty from the participating universities, the inter-institutional program allows you to earn your master’s degree from any of the seven universities via online coursework.
Doctoral Program
K-State’s Ph.D. with an emphasis in Personal Financial Planning — the first in the nation to be conducted largely online — was designed for professionals who already have busy careers and substantial roots where they live. Offered through the School of Family Studies and Human Services, the program is composed of a mix of online and residency courses. It enables candidates across the world to earn their doctorate from a respected university while continuing their lives at home.
