About Us
The Institute of Personal Financial Planning Clinic is the first of its kind to offer financial counseling blended with relational therapy services to the Manhattan community and surrounding areas.
The Financial Planning Clinic is run by the nationally recognized Personal Financial Planning Program at Kansas State University. Staff members are trained in a variety of competencies and hold or are in training to hold various designation such Certified Financial Planner® (CFP), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC).
Our Mission
To provide excellent client-centered services in the areas of risk profiling, motivational interviewing, personal investment profiling, and individual, couple, family and group behavioral counseling as it relates to the inter-section between financial planning, marriage and family therapy, and counseling.
First Class In Service
The Institute of Personal Financial Planning is the first academic institution in the nation to provide comprehensive services based on cutting edge research. Faculty and students supervised by faculty provide “financial therapy” services. The term “financial therapy” has been coined to describe the integration of behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and relational aspects of financial wellness.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP (with flame logo)®, which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements. K-State does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP (with flame logo)® certification marks. CFP® Certification is granted only by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to those persons who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met its ethics, experience and examination requirements.
